New Jewelry at the Queen

This bracelet design has been one of the most popular designs I have made in the last couple of years. I brought it in as well as a couple more pieces to freshen the booth.
These are pretty blingy, but can you have too much bling? I think not. Either would be great for New Year's Eve.

8 acts completed

I completed 6,7 & 8 of my 26 Acts of Kindness. It is getting easier to walk up to strangers and hand them cards.
Most people take the cards as if there were expecting it, and then there are some that look a bit scared when you try to hand them something. I totally get that. Have you ever been to Las Vagas and they try to hand you "those" flyers?! Above is the note I have been attaching to whatever I am giving. Today it was Target gift cards in small amounts. Only one person asked me what it was I was giving them. When I explained she was so happy and told me it was awesome and wished me a Merry Christmas. I am inspired to carry on and hope I have inspired you to join me!

26 Acts of Kindness

The note states, " To honor the 26 taken from us at Sandy Hook we are doing 26 acts of kindness and you are #1." This is the facebook page started to honor the 26 slain in the massacre.
I love this idea that we randomly show kindness to a stranger. It makes me think what if something like this would have happened to the very troubled young man who took these peoples lives. You never know what difficutlty someone is going through. The simple act of kindness could be just the ray of sunshine they need. I don't get political here, it is all about creating beauty in jewelry, the home etc. I do think movement needs to be shared. Check out the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/26acts and I hope you will join me. I am starting today, I will let you know how it goes. Peace and Happy Holidays! Denise

Upcycled Sweater Wreath

We had a fun crafty night last night. We created wreaths using old sweaters. Everyone brought a couple so we could bits of each others sweaters. Here is mine. I just love it. I mixed in some beige sweater and old doillies to give it some character. I also glued in some snowflake earrings for some bling. Everyone made a beautiful wreath. I failed to take pictures as I should have done. The down side was I have serious burns that are now blistering on two of my fingers (making the typing a bit tough) from my high temp glue gun.
The bottom picture shows a closer shot of the flower detail.
I am sure you will think twice about throwing out those old sweaters now.

Updated Antique booths at Queen of Hearts

I have been busy with Mary working on our booths Sassy & STash at Queen of Hearts Alpharetta. Here are some recent photos I took this week. Here is the Stash booth looking all festive. We decided we need more twigs and greenery up high on our "roof" piece. That piece, by the way, is a headboard that we distressed and tossed up there. I started stenciling banners for the holidays. This one is "Joyeux Noel." I thought it would look great as part of a garland on a mantle.
Here is part of the Sassy booth with one of my mannequins wearing a "Believe" banner. I thing she looks pretty cute w/ the banner and her twig wings.
We had a trunk show with our jewelry last weekend. Here is some of the beautiful bracelets we have made.
I hope your enjoying decorating for the upcoming holidays. I know this year I especially enjoying the season and all of the beauty it brings.

Upcycled Sweater Wreath

Aren't these wreaths the cutest thing you have ever seen?! Some friends are getting together with me next week and we are going to make these. I can't wait! Think of all the old sweaters in your closet or even better your hubby's sweaters that you can use.

I love jute webbing!

I do love this jute webbing. I have seen it used for so many creative things. Here are just a couple of ideas I pulled off of Pinterest. Weaving around a basket looks awesome!
A wreath for anytime of year would be super easy to make.

Source: etsy.com via Tam on Pinterest

This banner is super easy to make too,
These baskets look super embellished with the jute as well.
We have both the red and black webbing at the Queen of Hearts Alpharetta if you feel the need to create some of these awesome ideas.

Look at what I have been making

I don't usually get the jump on Christmas, but maybe this year I will. I am making these cute garlands for the tree. They are made using vintage sheet music. They are super easy and I think will add a festive touch to the tree this year. I also am making a wreath with the paper comes made from the sheet music. When I found the book of music for piano at Country Living a couple of weeks ago, I knew it would be perfect for this application and all for $5.00! WooHoo!

Hurricane Sandy

The pictures from Hurricane Sandy are unbelievable. The people are now isolated stuck in their homes with no heat, food, water or power. I can't imagine how hard it must be. I know the Red Cross is coming in and doing the best they can for these people. It is easy if you want to help. I texted 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross. It's so easy and every penny will help. How about it, can you text 90999 to help just a bit?

Country Living Fair Atlanta

This weekend is the big Country Living Fair in Atlanta. It is by far the best show I have ever gone too. I helped a dear friend in her booth last year and it was crazy busy. It was so much fun. I did not get to shop much though, which was probably a good thing. This year my family is coming to town to visit the fair so I will be shopping instead of working and I can not wait!! Here are some pictures of Revival 356's photo boards and crosses. These are truly a one of kind item. Each board, cross, etc. is made from salvaged vintage wood then layered with vintage fabric and lace and finally rusty wire, hinges, door knobs and crystals are added. Each board is truly a unique work of art. My friend Vikki is the creative genius behind each of these boards.
Aren't they gorgeous, if you go to the fair be sure to look for her it will be a beehive of activity as people fight for their favorite boards. Hope to see you at the fair!

Salvaged Suitcases into pet beds

I think this idea is adorable. Old suitcases have such personality and remind me of my childhood. Isn't this a great way to use those old (heavy) suitcases, and get everyday use out of them.
I am sure good looking old suitcases are now a hot commodity at flea markets and antique stores! Do you think I can find one big enough for my wild golden retriever?!

Salvaged armoire ideas

What a fabulous idea. So often people want to get rid of these older cabinets because everyone is putting their TVs on the wall. Here is a great idea to upcycle it into a huge doll house. Here is another beautiful one converted into a bar. I see these all of the time at thrift stores. They are pretty cheap to pick up. Go ahead and get one and upcycle it to something wonderful.

New bracelets

I am in the jewelry making mode right now. I have two shows in November and an open house. Here are some of the bracelets I have been making. These are a real popular look stacked up your arm.
Sorry the lighting is so bad with these I was having a bit of technical trouble that day.

No time to post really so.....

I am running crazy right now, but though I could at least post this PSA for pet adoption. Doesn't it just warm your heart?!

Chalk Labels here

I have started to sell these chalk labels in my booth and now my etsy store. I love them they are the handiest items ever. I have started to get rid of all of the plastic in my house and started to store everything in glass.
I love the look and my pantry and refrigerator is starting to look super organized. The labels are even big enough to write expiration dates or directions if I want. The best thing is the jars are what would have gone into the trash or recycling. These are also great to add to mason jars at a party to label your drink. Since the labels are repositionable they can be removed to wash the glass then put right back on or stored on wax paper. They can be put on to the kids mirrors to remind them to brush their teeth....wash their hands...flush.... you understand what I am where I am coming from right? I like to use a chalk marker instead of regular chalk to get that crisp color. It wipes clean easily when you are ready, but doesn't smear like chalk can sometimes do.
They come in different shapes, sizes and quantities. You can see more in my etsy shop!

European Market Sneak Peek

Here are some pictures of some of our new merchandise we will have at the European Market on Milton Ave. September 22 & 23.

I love the color on these tables.  The tables are a combination of layers of paint that have been distressed and aged.  The final color looks almost like the color of the ocean in a vintage atlas.  Do you know the color I am talking about?  Love it!
I also have been working on lots of new memo boards.  The newest design is this Queen Bee board.  I think it would be the perfect addition to a kitchen or mudroom.  A place for photos, coupons or anything else you need to keep track of easily.
.
We also have lots of burlap covered buckets for plants or organizing your stuff.  Love the number motif.  We also have votive holders with the same number motif on them as well.

We hope you will come by and say hi if your in the area.

Mason Jar LightsI

Isn't this a great use for old mason jars, or any glass jars you want to recycle.  They have just decopaged tissue paper with white glue over the outside of the jar.  Too easy not to try.

I love the idea of these tucked all over the yard and hung by twine from some low tree branches.  I need to buy a ton of those battery powered tea lights the next time I have a coupon.

I also like the Halloween twist very much.  I thing these would look great coming down our sidewalk to the house.

Let me know if you make any I would love to see what you come up with!

I love Savannah GA

I got to spend a little time in Savannah last weekend with my hubby. We had such beautiful weather, it was just wonderful. Here are some pictures I took along the way.
As you may or may not know Savannah is a city with many park squares, each has a monument or beautiful fountain in the center. Each one tells the story or a hero or important person in the history of the state of Georgia. It was really interesting to read each of the historic plaques, but so much to take in my brain.
There is also a beautiful cathederal St. John the Baptist (I think) Here are some of the shots I took there.
And finally some of the beautiful fountains, I could of sat here all day, but I didn't do that. I ended up finding some awesome pieces in a small antique mall. MY husband was so sweet to carry around my old rustic toolbox I bought.
