Domino Art Pendants

I had such a great time visiting with our family that live in North Carolina. We had lots of fun, great food and shopping. I always manage to sneak in a visit to the Enchanted Cottage in Lewisville, NC. The store has mega amounts of stamps and scrapbook items. I never can get out of there empty handed, this time I got a great damask stamp, inks and glitter. I was very happy with my little package. I went back to join the family and they decided they wanted to learn how to make domino pendants. Here is the picture of the pendants that were made that day. Didn't they do well. My youngest nieces ages 5, and 10 got into the act too. There were so sweet, wanting to make one for all of their friends. I brought all of them home with me to seal and drill. I love looking at them as a group, wouldn't this make a cool mosaic?
There are lots of ways to decorate your dominos these all used Tim Holtz alcohol inks in the Farmers Market colors, and the other was "Cottage Cabin" that had pretty browns. Then we just used regular black dye ink to stamp onto the backgrounds. We let them dry for 24hrs and then I sprayed fixative, then matte spray sealer on them. Now they are ready to string and wear. This is a great gift for pennies!

A cold day in Dixie

Wow, it was a cold day to be outside for a craft fair! There was a an option to move inside, but it was very crowded and I thought we were better off outside with more room to spread out. Well I think it was not ideal either way. We had an ok day, but met some great people. Thanks for all that stopped by to see us! We met some other great vendors as well. This bottom photo is Alisha of Alisha's Accents. She makes these absolutely gorgeous handbags. Her materials are rich and made with great attention to detail. She has an etsy store so you can get one for yourself. You can see how my friend Pam of pammyt on etsy is dressed that we had a frosty day. I came home and layed on the couch with a heating pad and blanket I was knocked out by 7:30.

Embellish it!

Somebody stop me! Once I get going on these little canvases I can't stop. They are so much fun given there is not too much white space to work with. I think it's less pressure for me. The fun starts with the embellishing for me. The camera doesn't pick up all of the detail, but the bird canvas has buttons, rhinestones big and small, twill tape and ribbon. I had to take it out of my studio otherwise it would have a couple more doodads added to to it.

Craft Show this Weekend

For readers in the Atlanta area, I will be participating in the St. Pius X High School Craft Fair this Saturday from 9am to 3pm. It is located at 2674 Johnson Road in Atlanta. I have participated in the past and it always has a great variety of vendors. I hope I see you there! I will have a ton of my jewelry as well as painted canvases and some other little goodies I am working feverishly to finish. I need someone to yell, "Pencils down!" or I will work until 2am Friday morning trying to get more things done.

New art inpired by Lisa Kaus

I found artist Lisa Kaus' work featured in a recent Sommerset Studios magazine and was instantly drawn to her style. She does the cutest canvases, buckets, houses, and cake box towers. The "cakes" feature objects that go along with the theme. I want them all! I decided to make one for myself using her style for inspiration. This one is my first, I call it "Nest." I am happy with the way it turned out. I used pages from an 1870's ledger, tissue paper, mini nest, and eggs. I definetly need more stuff for adding on the next one. Check out Lisa Kaus' wonderful shop yourself here.
I hope to take a workshop with her one day, but until she makes it to the East Coast I will just have to wait.

My Maddy Girl

This is my sweet girl Maddy. She is now ten years old and is having some real problems. It seems Labs are prone to hip dysplasia and she has started limping. This has come on rather suddenly, and I took her to the vet. The vet thinks that maybe she tore her ACL. I did not know these things could happen to dogs. She is going to an orthopedic vet to get diagnosed and see if she is a candidate for surgery. It breaks our hearts to see her hobbling around, and she still grabs her ball wanting to play. She has become my constant companion over the last ten years we are hoping they will be able to fix her up and have her back to her old self. Our fingers are crossed!

Art Pendants

I have been so busy making art and jewelry for shows and my etsy shop, but rarely make one for myself. Here are the two I am now sporting around town. The first is photo of me on back of an initial pendant. My older sister stuck my in a photo booth and by the fourth one I figured out how to smile. I put one of my always/lucky stick words with it b/c this is how I feel about my life. Lucky or really blessed to have my awesome family, and friends. It serves as a good reminder to me to count my blessings.
The second pendant is of a collage/painting I did awhile back. I loved how this turned out. Light and whimsicle so I decided to shrink it down for wearable art. I am now offering this in my etsy shop. Do you have a favorite work or art, atc that you think would make a great pendant or ornament? Just send me the jpg and I will seal it under glass for you to wear or give with pride. This would also be fun with your child's artwork. My son did a drawing that I am especially fond of that will be added to my always lucky necklace.
Enjoy and as they say in the south "Happy fall y'all"

New Glass Bubble Pendants

I have been busy making some new pendants. I have some shows coming up soon and wanted some fun new designs. Some of them I went ahead and antique to grunge them up a bit. I think my favorite is the flaming heart. What do you think?
