Atlanta Mixed Media Artists first meeting

We had the first meeting of the Atlanta Mixed Media Artists today and it was great! Suzanne of Pink Roses welcomed us to her gorgeous home and we made inchies. It was so much fun meeting others who have the same interest and obsessions. We all love to hoard wonderful supplies and papers and never have enough room to work on our creations. We then went to a great stamp store in Roswell called Impressive Ideas. If you are in the area you should check it out. She has a great variety of wonderful goodies. If you are in the Atlanta area and would like to become part of our group please leave me a comment or email.

This is a picture of a soldered art piece I made for Suzanne for hosting us. I love hanging this size on a beautiful wine bottle, basket or wreath.

Designer Showcase Homes

I got to attend the Roswell Women's Club Designer Showcase Home Tour. It was an awesome tour of three homes. Area designers took individual rooms and made them into dreams rooms. The top picture here is of a window treatment in a teen girl's room. The windows resembled dresses complete with the corset style middle and long flowing silk. The walls were upholstered and the ceiling was done with metallic paint resembling an evening sky. It was a girl's dream come true. Photo two was a bedroom that had just simple touches with lots of texture. I just loved these photo frames on the wall. Each was a little different, but all looked like they were made from old chipped up wood. The bottom picture was a lamp in the little girl's room. The frog theme went through out each of the bedrooms. They even had a chandelier with this frog and pink shades too. Bellini did this room really did an awesome job. I always leave these homes feeling inspired and ready to redo my home. I just need to pick a room now.

Great Art Technique Blog

I wanted to let you know about a great blog being done by Belinda from the Mixed Media art Yahoo art group. I have not been part of the group for long, but have found Belinda to be a very knowledgable and giving artist. She has started a technique blog for some really fun projects. She writes clearly and concisely with lots of great photos. It's a great resource you should check out.

New Monogram Charms

THere are some of my newest monogram charms I have been making. I found some beautiful satin ribbons to hang them on and cooordinate with the backgrounds. I am giving these as gifts to my good friends. I know they will love them! Everyone loves a personalized gift. I am now offering them in my etsy store, allowing the buyer to add their own sentiment on the back. What do you think?

Mr Big Ears Treat Box

This is my newest bunny creation. I love his extra long skinny ears. He is made from paper mache over an armature. Then attached to paper mache box that has been aged. Last I added some vintage lace, pink velvet ribbon and some small buttons to the edge of the lid. These are so fun to make. I think making just a head is as long as I can stay on one project. If you look through my blog the obvious thing is how many different things I like to do. Next, I am getting out my sewing machine to try some wristlets and belts. I will post them when I get them done.

House Jewelry

I am not sure what else I can call these soldered items. They are 2x3 and hang from a hand dyed silk ribbon. I have them hanging off of hooks and a shelf now. I think they would be cute on a wreath or basket with greenery. I like working with this larger format, there are so many possibilities. I made the little eggs myself and am now selling them in my etsy store. I just love the bird, egg, nest motifs that are so popular now. I had to make my own eggs for all of the nests I have. They are a bit time consuming, but worth it. I am now trying to get a good pink color for my next batch. I don't know if that is a natural color for bird eggs, but I think they will be cute.

Spring is here!!

I can't believe my spring flowers are all blooming. I has been a little cool here to be thinking it's springtime. I won't argue with Mother Nature though. I know my family in the midwest is so sick of snow they are about to loose it. I think they had to hide all of the sharp objects! So for all of you having too long of a winter, I hope this helps you through.
