Necklace for Dremel Swap

I am participating in a necklace swap with the Dremel Yahoo group. The rules were that you had to make your necklace at least 24 inches long with a minimum of 6 charms made using your dremel tool. I at first was going to do a sea inspired necklace using sea glass. I tried multiple times with multiples tips and broke the sea glass each time. I went back to the drawing board and came up with a "Vintage Travel" necklace I used letter tiles I drilled to spell "Paris",and then I drilled disks I painted and added vintage ephemera onto them. All in all I think it turned out pretty I hope my partner likes it!

New Treasury "Wicked"

I was included in a very cool treasury by JanelDudley, she called it "Something Wicked comes this way...." It has some really fun items for the fall/Halloween season. They even have custom made horns! Check it out at http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list_west.php?room_id=27278

Rock Star!

Didn't you have that dream as a kid, singing into your hairbrush? To be a rockstar, singing to the masses, hearing them chant your name.... oh sorry, I guess I was daydreaming lol. Well I thought this was such a fun idea. The little skull charm just had to be part of some necklace, so cute and sassy at the same time. Oh yah.....Rock Star.

New Papillion Pendant

I have been working hard on some new pendant designs. Sometimes my creativity flows like a river, and other times it's a trickle. Well it looks like the water has been turned back on for now. I have several new ones that are going to be listed in my etsy store. I just rediscovered these butterfly images. I made them into transparencies so you can see the words through the wings.

No gas, new world

Wow there is no gas to be found within a 10 mile radius of my home. After Hurrican Ike hit Texas and the gulf coast things have been not working too well as far as getting gas goes.
My heart goes out to the people who have been affected by the hurricane. I can't imagine the chaos and living within the total unknown. Will we rebuild, can we rebuild, will I have a job? I guess getting gas is a small problem in comparison. My son said, "is this what the future is going to be like?" Wow I hope not. I will count my lucky stars I was not truly affected by Ike and go make my donation to the Red Cross.

I love this bracelet!

Look at this cool bracelet my friend Pam has made. She calls it "Inspired Word" bracelet. It is a sterling silver bangle that you can wear everyday with all of your cute clothes. I am going to have one made that says, "My Loves....Daren, Nick, Alex." I would love to wear a bracelet like that everyday. My husband & sons on my wrist all of the time. She can put anything you want on these bangles. I know she is doing a couple for military moms with their kids names on them. What a great way to keep them close to your heart. You can check them out for yourselves at Pammyt's etsy.

More Upcycling with wool

Here is my latest project I have been working on this week. I bought a great book called, "Felt it, Stitch it, Fabulous! by Katheryn Tidwell Bieber. I decided to do a project where wool roving is added to the sweater to make a design. I copied the pattern from the back of the book onto water soluble stabilizer and then pinned it to my sweater. Then I worked on adding in each color using my special felting needle. There are complete directions in the book. Be careful, I put the needle through my finger twice! It went so quickly and easily I couldn't believe the results. After I was finished filling in my design, I rinsed the sweater under the water and the stabilizer immediately dissolved. How cool! What do you think I should do with it now?
There is a great etsy store called FeelinFibers that sells some of the prettiest roving if you are wanting to try it out.

Upcycled sweater mittens

I have been felting some old sweaters again. This time I made some mittens. They are not the best. I didn't have a pattern so they are a not the best shape. I tried putting a cuff on with the sweater bottom. I didn't get them quit tight enough. They are very warm though. I think they will be just fine for an Atlanta winter.
I also have been cutting 8x8 squares with my leftovers. These I am sewing together by hand to make a little lap quilt to snuggle up with while watching TV. I only have 3 squares so far, but it will get there! I also got a form to make flowers with roving on top of the felted wool. I will do a seperate post on that dandy little tool.

Sew Much Detail

I am so thrilled I found Sandee of Sew Much Detail, she made these great wrist key holders.
The quality is outstanding and her material choices are wonderful. I am selling these now in my booth, but choose one to keep for myself. That was such a hard decision, each one is cuter than the other. You will have to go to her etsy store and choose a couple for yourself!
