I was shopping yesterday and saw these cool tea towels. Why are they called tea towels by the way? Anywho, these towels were calling my name, and I succumbed to them. I thought I would keep one for me and put the other with a birthday gift, but which one? The first one is so cute with the mix of fabrics and the cute ruffles, the other is such a great graphic design with the brown florals on the cream background. Hard to choose, or maybe I should just keep both to have them match my mood.

I made some new charms in honor of moms. My own mom passed almost three years ago this May. Sometimes if feels like it couldn't already be that long. The hurt is often as fresh as it was the day I heard the news. I miss her so bad. She would be so proud of me pursuing my art and the things I love to do. The quote on the back of the first charm is from Abraham Lincoln, "All I am, or ever will be, I owe to my mother." That is so true for me, I am more like her every day.
The second card is from a cabinet card that I had fun making into an angel queen. I have already sold a couple to early birds, I was never that good, always scrambling at the last minute for a gift. I guess I still do that oh well I can only improve.

I am so behind with learning to use digital editing software. I wish there were a simple upgrade I could do to myself so that I could use this software with ease. I have so much trouble using Adobe, it just doesn't flow for me. I have a son that it is second nature for, but me no way. If you love digital collage you should check out http://justgiddy-rebecca.blogspot.com/. Rebecca is a very talented artist, as well as digital artist. She also has free images on her site for the taking. I love to see what she has been up to for Illustration Friday. She always has something to inspire, you really should check it out.

I have not given away any blog candy in awhile. So here is a scrap pack that has a travel theme. These would make a great addition to atcs or to a collage. There are over twenty pieces here in the pack. Leave me a comment along with your email so I can contact you if you are the winner. I am moderating my comments now so it won't show up automatically. I had some trouble with spam and a possible virus in my comment area and don't want to pass that stuff off to anyone else.
I will have my son pull a winner on 4/25 . Thanks for stopping by to see me.

We got to go to Copper Mountain for Spring Break and had a blast. I have not skied for 8 yrs, but it did come back to me slowly. I had so much fun watching my kids enjoy the outdoors. It was plenty cold for this southern girl. They had a ton of snow and there were no crowds, heaven.
The resort was lit up at night with beautiful colored lights, so festive, even if it was April. Now time to pack up the gear and hope to go again sometime soon.

I just found out that there is a contest going on over at etsy to raise money for Autism research. Please go to etsy and search "etsy for autism" and you will find many items to be sold to raise money for this very worthy cause. There is also a contest to see which item gets the most views as well. Laurie of http://loudlife-laurieblaumarshall.blogspot.com has a beautiful piece of work that is for sale so please go check it out. I worked with many autistic children when I worked as a Speech Language Pathologist. It was very challenging and rewarding work. It has been over ten years since I worked, but many of them will stay in my memory for my lifetime.

This is one of my newest necklaces. I have been wanting to incorporate my soldered pendants into my necklaces in different ways. I took four different pictures or stamped images, all with a french theme, and put them together in this new necklace. I do like the way it turned out, it is very interesting to look at.

I just received a package that I won on Ebay. It contains 3 ledger books from 1884 thru 1905. I am so excited they are just awesome. The first one was made with a canvas type cover, the second one is huge and gorgeous with a leather tooled cover and finally the third little one is made with a paper type cover and is very worn. It is the real treasure though. The hand writting is all done with pen so it is the gorgeous script I was hoping it would be. Signatures just don't look that beautiful anymore. It is so interesting to see the cost of things too, and what they bought. I feel like I am stepping back in time with each of the pages I turn. Love them!

I love buying books. I am so bad about limiting myself. I am helpless and I admit it. The first book I got is the Crowns & Tiaras book by Keri Judd & Danyel Montecinos. The book features about 30 crowns and tiaras made by various artists. They have names like "Queen of Extreme",
"Princess of Prose", and my favorite, "Countess of Creative Chaos" . I am so excited to make a crown now and I have no time to do it. I will have to settle for creating a concept for one for the time being.
The second book I got this week is ," Mixed Media Mosiacs" byLaurie Mika. The book has a great variety of projects using polymer clay tiles mixed with purchased tiles. I must own at least twenty pounds of polymer clay in every color of the rainbow. I am set with materials again I just need the time.
Finally, I got the "Great Food Fast" book from the Martha Stewart Food magazine people. I was lucky and snagged it at the thrift store for next nothing. It has a lot of yummy quick recipes in it. These I think I have time for.
I have so many interests and so many things I want to do, and not enough time to do them all. I guess that is a good problem to have.
